Tui Na is part of the bodywork system in Chinese Medicine which uses the same principles as acupuncture. It works on the acupuncture meridians and points to address a complaint. Tui Na is still used in hospitals in China today to help treat insomnia, migraines, menstrual cramps, fatigue, sciatica, to mention a just a few.

The treatment tends to be carried out either through clothing or sometimes directly on the skin, and generally lasts up to one hour.  Generally, the practitioner takes a pulse reading at the beginning to help indicate which meridian (or channel) may require treatment.

A Tui Na massage works on both the physical and emotional body, holistically balancing life energy (known as qi) throughout the person.  Tui Na involves a variety of techniques to unlock life energy in the meridians which flow up and down the body.

Tui na can treat acute or chronic pain, such as those caused by musculoskeletal conditions and injuries.  It helps the body’s natural ability to detoxify itself by stimulating the lymphatic system.  It also helps with lactic acid dispersal (a by-product of exercise) and as a result can improve training and performance for athletes.
