Hello, my name is Dr Kate Davis and I am a Clinical Psychologist who specialises in working with autistic adolescents and adults. I am committed to supporting and embracing all aspects of neurodiversity and I promote neuro affirmative practice.

Autism Assessments

I am trained to assess and diagnose autism and am particularly interested in working with individuals to understand their unique profile so that I can help them manage the challenges they face. Our autism assessments are comprehensive, robust and use a ‘gold standard’ assessment tool (Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO) (Wing 2003). https://www.autism.org.uk/services/diagnosis/diagnostic/why.aspx?

Our assessments provide so much more than a diagnostic label. We take pride in helping people to make sense of their unique story as well as their differences and strengths through the lens of neurodiversity. We provide personalised and detailed recommendations which help people to make real changes in their lives. We can help people access relevant adjustments in employment and education.  We are also trained in adult ADHD assessments

Therapy

I have considerable experience of working with girls and women with autism as they are often missed, misdiagnosed and misunderstood due to their ability to camouflage their differences. Much of my therapeutic work involves working with individuals with mental health challenges which often result from being misunderstood. I am able to help people understand and manage their autistic burn out. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and am experienced in adapting this for autistic adults. I offer therapy to individuals, couples and families. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your needs or if you require further information. I always offer a free initial telephone/Zoom consultation.
